Abstract

Due to their relief and climatic conditions, the mountain areas of the High Tatras are suitable areas for the formation of various natural processes that participate in the modeling of the current landscape cover. Many of these processes act intensively in the highest positions of the peaks, others are manifested in the lower areas of the valleys. Significant threats to the alpine environment include avalanches and slope processes (Hreško et al., 2016). The aim of this articles is to provide complex information on the threat to the Mengusovska Valley by morphodynamic processes. Within them, we focused specifically on avalanche hazards as well as on determining the potential deposition of material by surface runoff.
