Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected more than 213 countries around the world. The spread of the virus has been and is so rapid that the governments of some countries have failed to respond sufficiently and take measures to prevent the spread of the virus, with fatal consequences for human lives and the economy. The article points out selected epidemic and pandemic situations and their impact on society in the world. In order to increase the awareness of the population, the school system should respond more flexibly to the situation and operatively integrate serious current topics into the education process - curriculum. The aim of this article is to point out the needs and possibilities of incorporating the innovative topic Selected biological risks into the subjects of primary schools as well as into cross-sectional topics. Improving the level of knowledge means a lower risk of underestimating the situation and thus increasing protection against biological risks.
