Abstract

The aim of the study is the evaluation of soil loss by water erosion and the identification of soil units sensitive to water erosion, which are managed by the agricultural cooperative Horná Nitra based in Nedožery-Brezany. The universal soil loss equation (USLE) was used. By applying the USLE formula, we derived the average annual rate of water erosion intensity on cultivated land units. The calculation of the potential intensity of water erosion on soil units (without the use of a protective effect layer of vegetation cover and anti-erosion measures) reaches a higher value by 157 t.ha-1.year-1 than the calculated real intensity of water erosion. In this we considered the current sowing procedures without application of anti-erosion measures. Based on the calculation of soil loss, depending on the depth of soil in soil units, we obtained information on the potential and real degree of soil erosion risk (SEOP). Representation of real SEOP according to STN 75 4501 is in the 1st class of erosion risk higher by 346.22 ha than potential SEOP. In the case of SEOP calculation according to Act no. 220/2004 Coll. we have found out that the real SEOP has 232.41 ha more representation in the 1st class than the potential SEOP. After modeling erosively endangered localities, we have verified the given condition in the field. We have designed appropriate erosion control procedures in soil units affected by water erosion in order to conserve soil resources and reduce erosion risk.
