Abstract

The paper deals with the issue of cultural landscape research in the locality of Chvojnica (district of Prievidza). The aim is to reconstruct the cultural and historical development of the studied area with an emphasis on the activities of the German minority. The methodology of multitemporal analysis of transects of cultural-landscape layers was used. In order to obtain gold from alluvium and seams, colonization on emphyteutic law was carried out on the territory of today's Chvojnica in the 14th - 16th century, which was connected mainly with the German-speaking population. It is also called Colonization on German Purchasing Law. At present, more than 20 archetypes of the historical landscape structure influenced by mining have been preserved in the studied area. Due to the fact that relevant written sources have not been preserved from this period, research on the cultural landscape is one of the few ways to clarify some geographical, historical and cultural contexts.
