Abstract

Russian Federation, after decline of the Soviet Union in 1991, has changed on the level political, economic, socio-cultural and environmental aspects. These changes is possible to see for example in morpho-genetic structure of cities. This paper presents a comparison case study of two cities located in the European part of the Russian Federation – Archangelsk and Astrakhan. Both cities have some common aspects of historical development (administrative, demographic, geographical, political etc.). The comparison study is describe thought model on demonstration of the development of residential, industrial and leisure time functions. The main objective is to prove joint development of both cities, the biggest flourishing of which was the era of the Soviet Union.
