Abstract

Education and its importance has an essential place in society. The paper responds to the changes in society in connection with the introduction of compulsory pre-school attendance. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the network of kindergartens in the territory of Slovakia from the temporal and spatial aspects. The results point out important milestones in the development of kindergartens in Slovakia and indicate trends of their further development. In Slovakia, almost one third of Slovak municipalities are without a kindergarten. These are many examples of social (in)justice and problems with the accessibility of kindergartens in Slovakia.
