Management Plan of the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape As a Tool for the Strategic Development of the UNESCO Heritage

Abstract

One of important UNESCO heritage sites in Czechia is the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape. This monument with an area of 143.37 km2 is an extremely valuable composite landscape that deserves special care on the part of all actors. Regional development of this destination brings many problems, obstacles and often non-conceptual approaches from public and business actors. One of the tools to capture and direct the "organic" development of this territory is an effective Management Plan, which should be drawn up for all UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The main goal of this paper is to evaluate existing objectives of the valid Management Plan of the Lednice-Valtice Area. Using a multi-category analysis, it is necessary to point out obstacles and new challenges that brings the implementation of the Plan. Conclusions and recommendations from this article can serve public administration professionals for the future planning period.
