Abstract

Slovakia is geographically and culturally diverse, beautiful, exceptional and with many unique features. The natural and cultural wealth is becoming more and more precious not only for local residents but also for domestic and foreign visitors. This rarity must be protected and save for future generations. In frame of the perception of natural and sustainable tourism, we focused on finding out and evaluating of Slovak visitors in the regions of five protected areas through a questionnaire survey. We asked them about their motives, activities, expectations, opinions on entrance fees to the protected area, the offer of local products, services and job creation. In this way, the visitors expressed their views on the development of tourism and simultaneously we found out their perception of natural and sustainable tourism, as well as the surroundings in which they spend their free time.
