Abstract

Suburbanization can currently be seen as an aesthetic and socioeconomic problem. Suburbanization represents a complex transformation process that is involved in the physical-geographical and human-geographical transformations of the environment into the hinterland of large cities. Nitra district with an area of 870.70 km2 and a population of 164,788 is one of the most populous districts in Slovakia. We pay attention to the evaluation of selected forms and manifestations of residential and commercial suburbanization and the own infrastructure of selected municipalities in the context of changes in the landscape in relation to the start of operation of Jaguar Land Rover Slovakia in the industrial park in the city of Nitra. Three basic factors are evaluated - the development of the population, the development of agricultural land and the time availability of selected municipalities in the years 2011 to 2021. The research found that the residents of suburban areas mainly maintain a connection with the city through commuting to work and using its services, i.e. suburban settlements meet suburban-residential function.
